Welcome to the internet site of Australia's Oldest Band, St Joe's Big Band. We've been part of the Launceston community since 1845. Originally we started life as a brass band with many members of the community fondly remembering the "Good Old Joe's". What many don't realise is we are still kicking - though now as a big band.

We're now a twenty piece big band with a unique sound that recalls the days of the legends like Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington and Count Basie and merges it with the hot new sounds in jazz like Chick Corea and Miles Davis. When it comes to experience we are unsurpassed with a wide repertoire of over 120 songs right for any occasion. You may be very surprised about how affordable we are! It doesn't hurt to ask - and we welcome any enquiries. St Joe's is a community band where the musicians all do it for the love of jazz - so you know that the entertainment we provide comes straight from the heart (not the hip pocket).
